Around this time every year, Facebook Memories reminds me of something I will never forget.
Back in 2022, it rained heavily for several days straight. One morning I woke up and checked my phone, only to realise that St Lucia, where our shop is located, was flooding.
When we rushed to the shop, the water had already reached the road next to us, and the rain was still pouring. There was absolutely nothing we could do except watch the water slowly rise.
When we came back the next day, the whole shop was already under water.
At that time, we had just taken over this shop, moved from our old Paddington location to St Lucia, and we had only been open for 7 weeks.
I remember crying uncontrollably.
Years of hard work… suddenly all under water.
I had no idea what we were going to do next or how we were going to get through it.
For three days, everything stayed underwater. During those three days, we couldn’t do anything except try to adjust our mindset and prepare ourselves for what was coming next.
When the water finally went down, the real challenge began — cleaning, disinfecting, throwing things away, and slowly putting everything back together. With very limited funds and a lot of pressure, we rebuilt the shop piece by piece.
After five weeks of cleaning and rebuilding, we were finally able to reopen.
Now, four years have passed.
The first photo shows the water level from that flood. You can actually still see the mark in the shop today — next time you visit, have a look and you’ll notice it.
The second photo is a Christmas gift we received from our staff last year. We were very touched and truly grateful. Thank you — we really love it.
The rest of the photos are some of the scenes from when the shop was flooded.
We are still incredibly grateful to everyone who helped us during that difficult time. Without you, we might not have been able to reopen.
And of course, thank you to all of you who have continued supporting us throughout these years 🩷
In 2025, our lives also changed in a very special way — we welcomed a little new life into our family.
No matter what the future looks like, as long as we are able to, we will continue doing our best to bring
