While 2020 was an all-round horrific year it did give us at Theatre Works pause enough to consider how we can improve, how we can serve the community better and it gave us time to make some big organisational changes. One such change has been the creation of BLACKBOX cafe & bar. BLACKBOX cafe & bar has been created to quite literally open our front doors to the local community and the greater arts

community, to provide supplementary work for artists and to diversify Theatre Works revenue streams. The hospitality sector and the arts sector have a great many crossovers one of the most notable being that they both create the opportunity for communities to find each other, to physically share space and their stories. It is our hope that BLACKBOX cafe & bar will be yet another way for Theatre Works to do that for the locals of St Kilda and all it's visitors. So, if you are looking for a spot for your early morning espresso, somewhere for your meetings, a chill destination for an awkward Tinder date or an end of day cocktail then we've got you covered.
