Super exciting news: is opening at on Monday, May 11th! I got invited to visit early and LOVED IT. For transparency, the food was all gifted, but if they let us order more for purchase (they wouldn't because they technically weren't "open" yet) we would have gotten more.

I haven't had Shake Shack for YEARS, but I'll definitely be adding it to my regular mall spots after this. The burgers were DELICIOUS and the milkshakes were amazing. There are so many things I want to try on their menu, I'll be back next week 😍😍😍🤣🤣 (summer bod here we come lmao).

Give them a visit when they open next week - you won't regret it!

My fave sandwich in Paris 🇫🇷🥪. While spending a beautiful morning at the Jardin du Luxembourg, lunch time crept up and we were craving something we could eat while still enjoying the garden. Within a few minutes walking distance we found Le Fournil, a charming little shop where you can get sandwiches, crepes, and pastries. We arrived there minutes before the rush, thankfully. We both got toasted sandwiches, which are under the "NOS PANINIS" menu. I got the "Firenze" and my husband got the "Torino."

The Firenze was a 10/10. It was toasted with a nice coating of seasoned olive oil. Inside was ham, mozzarella, mushrooms, and tomatoes. It was a simple sandwich, but it just tasted so delicious, especially fresh out of the oven. The cheese was melty and the bread has a nice crust.

The food there is also priced very well! Each of our sandwiches were around $10 CAD. We wanted to go back there while in Paris, but staying in the 10th arrondissement, it was a little far (plus, there are too many other places to try!).

If you ever find yourself in the heart of Angoulême, France, I highly recommend .fr! They've got a menu full of sweet and savoury options, as well as a long menu of hot drinks. I ordered the Burrata Burger, which is just as it sounds...a burger where the patty is made of burrata! Inside the buns is breaded burrata, guacamole, chimichurri sauce, and it's served with sweet potato fries and a mayo sauce. It was 16€, which equals $25.48 CAD, a little pricey in our currency, but it was very good!

I loved the burrata burger patty...it had a nice, crunchy exterior and a cheesy, creamy interior, and it paired so well with the chimichurri sauce!

I was about to order overpriced ube extract off Amazon, but then I remember ! This is my first time at the north side location and I loved it! Compared to the downtown location, they have a bigger selection of Filipino and Mexican/Latin/Hispanic products, and they also had ugali (Kenyan) and some African products. Also, the lady that worked there was insanely nice 🙂! I'll be going to this location moving forward, there are so many great items.

I know what you're thinking - Ash, why are you eating McDonald's when you're in freaking PARIS?! Firstly, I like to try McDonald's abroad because they all have different items, but secondly, I was not feeling good all day and when I was finally ready to eat, it was super late and the most convenient thing was a McDonald's that was a 5 minute walk from our hotel.

I got the Big Tasty: "a premium burger featuring a large beef patty, three slices of melted white cheddar, lettuce, tomatoes, raw onions, and a distinct smoky sauce on a toasted bun."

My verdict: everything about the burger was good, it used REAL cheese (and a lot of it!), and I liked the sauce and toppings.

The negative was the most important part...the beef patty. Idk if it's because I'm Albertan and our beef is just so good, but this beef was not it. If they had this exact burger in Canada, with some delicious Alberta beef, it'd do really well (if you're a cheese lover like me).

The burger patty was just so dry, bland, and cardboardish (like the burgers on the value menu we have here). I was hoping the burger patty was going to be like our Quarter Pounder (because it was 7€, about $11) - I know it's just McDonald's, but I always hope for the best when it comes to any food lol.

The last image was a beautiful arch we walked by everyday! We stayed in the 10th arrondissement.

Walking around Le Marais, Paris there are endless food options, but I was craving middle eastern food. I wasn't actively looking for it, but we walked past this little restaurant and I knew it was where I wanted to eat. I got the "Kafta" plate, which was 17.90€ (pricey, yes - $28.52 CAD). On the plate was: two kafta skewers, hummus, toum, tabbouleh, bulgur, rice, sautéed potatoes, and a plate of pitas.

I really liked it! The tabbouleh tasted fresh and delicious. The skewers were really yummy, and honestly, I just scooped up a bit of every single thing on my fork for each bite and it was so tasty all together.

Pain au Chocolat 🥐🍫 It's like a croissant with two little sticks of dark chocolate wrapped in the center. It's flaky, it's buttery, but unlike a croissant, the little bites of chocolate add a nice rich, bittersweet flavor that's incredibly satisfying. They're not all made equally, but I really enjoyed this one from in Montmartre ♥️🇫🇷.
