Everyday I tell my kids to be BRAVE.
And being brave is when you do something even though you are too scared to do it.
Here is a photo of me being brave.
Last time I saw Michele Romanow was at CHFA Toronto 2025. The show was done, everyone was rushing to pack up and she happened to be standing at the booth next to me. She looked over and smiled, and my brain was screaming go say hi, but being too scared and thinking all the negative thoughts, I just smiled back and started packing.
Fast forward to May 21, I was invited to an event by Visa and guess who was the keynote speaker? This time I told myself I was going to be brave, introduce myself and Mindful Monk and just put myself in front of her because you never know.
After her talk, which by the way made me admire her even more (one word: caviar), I jumped up and introduced myself. I was very nervous speaking to someone whoās inspired me so much that I even mumbled Iām scared and she looked me in the eye and said, donāt be. That alone calmed me and. allowed me to share my story, give her some yummy chocolates and take a photo.
The reason Iām sharing this is because entrepreneurship is all about the highs and very lows and doing things you never thought you would. And getting to share those experiences with others is a gift. Something Iāve learned in the last six years of doing this is that the thing you want is always on the other side of the thing youāre too scared to do. So just go and do it!
Thank you Visa for hosting this event and giving me a second chance to meet Michele. Thank you Michele for your inspiring talk and for your kindness. I hope you had a chance to try the chocolates and enjoyed them!
