Snging in community, where songs are shared through repetition, and sung together for joy, for wellness, for resistance, for grief, for collective care, and connection.

A tradition that reconnects us to something ancient, a thread throughout all of our lineages, woven into the very fabric of our human existence for thousands of years.

It just fills my heart in a way that almost can't be contained.

What a privilege to be made to feel so small.

Six hours in the woods that felt like two or three at most.

But time doesn't really exist. Not here, anyway.

But for the shift from day to night, growth and decay, water flowing, eroding riverbanks.

What a gift.

It was a good day.

The ramps are ready and where I found them they were abundant. I'd find one patch, pick a few leaves, take a few steps and there'd be another patch, and another, and another. Two hours later I had gathered enough to make some ramp salt and some pesto to enjoy all year (and a fistful to share with a friend too)
Ramps take a really long time to get established, and if you dig up and take the whole plant with the bulb, that plant is gone. Fewer ramps for next year, and fewer seeds to spread and grow the patch.
Instead, consider taking just one leaf per plant (or less) so we can come back to find them again year after year.
The earth gives us plenty if we take care.

First front yard asparagus harvest of 2026. Planted crowns 6 or 7 years ago and they keep getting bigger and better each year 🌱

You can plant asparagus seeds if you want to play the waiting game, but I'd recommend planting crowns at the same time so you only have to wait two years or so before you can eat some.
