What’s that noise? Spring, buddy boy and she's about to get spicey.

Winter’s long, laboured crawl is done. Yesterday it actually felt like the year started — sun on your face, dry socks and shoes, windows down across London.

Calçots are in
Is it a leek?
Is it an onion?
Does it matter?

What matters is they’re here, charred, sweet, messy. They'll be dragging their green mates in behind them. Asparagus is creeping in the valley. Peas lie patient in their pods.

Its time to leave the cave.
And take that scarf off.
Because that's not someone breathing down your neck — that’s wind in your sails.
