Did you know that the Chet Valley Community Larder can help if you are struggling in the current financial climate with food costs.

Our free larder, is open to everyone, to help each other with reducing food waste and to share food to those in need. 🥕🍞

The donation shelves & fridge are open throughout the week and we appreciate any donations you may wish to make, including cash donations, these can be handed to volunteers or at the Loddon Town Council office. 🥔🥫💵

Our volunteers are at the community larder every Saturday between 1.00-2.00pm and every Monday between 12.00-1.00pm in Loddon Library, during which time, food bags will be available to collect for a small donation of £1.

We’re really pleased to be able to have this facility in Loddon and would like to thank everyone who makes it all possible. We are extremely grateful to those who provide donations and to the volunteers who help make sure that the larder is accessible and stocked.

This service is open to residents of the Chet Valley (Loddon, Chedgrave, Hales & Heckingham, Langley & Hardley, Sisland).

🌱 Supporting Our Community Through the Larder! 🥕🍞🥫

We’re proud to have the Community Larder available to help reduce food waste and share food with those in need across the Chet Valley, including residents of Loddon, Chedgrave, Hales & Heckingham, Langley & Hardley, and Sisland.

📍 Need to Register?
Our volunteers are on hand at Loddon Library every Monday (12-1 PM) and Saturday (1-2 PM) to assist with larder registration, food bag collections, and donations.

💰 Food Bags Available!
You can collect a food bag for a small donation of £1 during our open sessions.

❄️ Donation Shelves & Community Fridge Open All Week!
We welcome any food donations, including fresh produce, tinned goods, long-life items, and even cash donations—which can be handed to our volunteers or at the Loddon Town Council office.

💚 156 Food Bags Provided So Far in 2026! 💚

Thanks to the incredible support of our volunteers, donors, members and partners, Chet Valley Community Larder has provided 156 food bags to registered households between January and May this year.

Every food bag represents practical support for local households, helping families access affordable food while reducing waste and strengthening our community.

Our monthly totals were:

📦 March – 28
📦 April – 17
📦 May – 23

Thank you to everyone who helps make this possible. Whether you volunteer, donate, share our posts or shop through the Larder, you are helping local people and making a real difference.

**Community Larder Update**

Earlier this year, we sadly experienced thefts from the Community Larder storage cupboards, which was incredibly disheartening for both Loddon Town Council and the volunteers who work so hard to keep this vital service running.

We are pleased to share that, following investigations, the individual responsible has made donations to the Community Larder and provided a written apology acknowledging the impact their actions had on the service, its volunteers, and the wider community.

We would like to thank Norfolk Constabulary for their assistance and support in helping to bring this matter to a positive resolution.

The Community Larder exists to support local people facing difficult circumstances, and thanks to the generosity of residents, donors, and volunteers, it continues to make a real difference every week.

We warmly welcome donations of:

🥫 Tinned goods
🥣 Long-life food items
💷 Cash donations (which can be handed to our volunteers or at the Loddon Town Council office)

The Community Larder relies on the kindness of local residents, businesses, and growers to help support people across the Chet Valley while reducing food waste.

❄️ Community Fridge Donations
Our Community Fridge can accept chilled items too. Please make sure all refrigerated donations are within their use-by date.

♻️ Help Us Reuse and Reduce
If you've collected a food bag from us, we'd love to have the paper bag back when you're finished with it. Reusing bags helps us cut costs and reduce waste.

Your generosity helps keep our community strong! If you're able to donate fresh foods, such as vegetables, fruit, baked goods, or tinned, dry, or long-life items, we'd be incredibly grateful.

🍎 Got an allotment or a home garden? If you have surplus fruit and vegetables, you can donate them through the Community Larder to help others in need.

❄️ Introducing our Community Fridge! You can also donate items requiring refrigeration—just ensure they’re within their USE BY date.

📦 Helping us reduce waste: If you receive food bags from us, we would greatly appreciate it if you could return the paper bags after use. This helps us keep costs down and reduces waste.

🤝 Need assistance? Our volunteers are here to help! Join our drop-in sessions every Monday (12-1 PM) and Saturday (1-2 PM), where volunteers can assist with registrations, food bag collections, and donations.
