This is Neist Point, one of our favourite viewpoints in Skye. Look closely at the dramatic basalt cliffs as they stretch out into the sea and it’s easy to see where the ‘dragon’ nickname comes from.

With its lighthouse, inspiring coastal walk and unique views, it’s a stop that’s earned its place on so many Skye itineraries.

It was an absolute pleasure chatting with hotel guests Annely and Scott last week, hearing about their plans for exploring Scotland and sharing a few local recommendations of our own.

Our conversation started with the chess board in our lounge, which gave us the perfect opportunity to share the story behind it. It's a replica of the famous Lewis Chessmen, one of Scotland's most wonderful archaeological discoveries.

Just a quick reminder that the Skye Half Marathon & 10K takes place this Saturday, 13th June 🏃

With races starting from Portree and road closures in place across parts of the island throughout the day, we’d recommend planning your journeys and routes ahead of time where possible.

You can find full race details, timings, route maps, and road closure information on the official Skye Half Marathon website and via Traffic Scotland.
