We often get asked about slings at our groups. Slings can feel like lifesavers when you have a baby who doesn't like to be put down. And wearing babies in slings has even been shown to increase duration of breastfeeding.

We cannot recommended a specific sling. The best sling for each parent/baby combination is different. We would however recommend using your local sling library. In Wiltshire we have two of them. Swindon and Devizes Sling Library covers the northern half of the county, and Salisbury Sling Library www.facebook.com/SalisburySlingLibrary covers the south.

And if you already have a sling, and would like help with using it safely and comfortably, sling libraries can help with that too.

Our Calne group is running to this afternoon (Wednesday 15th July).

Drop-in anytime from 1pm until 2:30pm, for feeding support, to chat to other breastfeeding families and/or to weigh your baby.

We will be in the Harris function room, in the Lansdowne Strand. To find us, turn left after coming in through the main doors.

The group is free to attend, with no need to book, and you are welcome to bring any age of child along with you.

Our Devizes group is running tomorrow afternoon (Friday 10th July), from 1pm until 2:30pm, at Optimum Corner.

However, travelling during the hottest part of the day, on one of the hottest days of the year, with a young baby just isn't something we should be encouraging, except for emergencies. So although we will be running, unless you need urgent in-person support, we'd suggest you either phone the National Breastfeeding Helpline on 0300 1000212 or wait until after the weekend to attend a group, when it will be slightly cooler.

I'm afraid our Calne group will not be running tomorrow (8th July), as none of our volunteers are available.

Apologies but I think we said that Chippenham Group would be running tomorrow Monday 6th July but we got a bit confused with which Monday it was!!

So no group tomorrow I am afraid but we are definitely on on Monday 13th July.

If you need support in the meantime there are groups running across Wiltshire and the National Breastfeeding Helpline is open 24 hours a day!

Optimum Bumps are running a free antenatal session, on breastfeeding, tomorrow (2nd July) evening.

Optimum Bumps is a free antenatal group, which runs at Optimum Corner in Devizes. A different topic is covered each week, and this week their topic is breastfeeding. Anyone who is currently pregnant, and wanting to feed their impending arrival with breastmilk (whether exclusively or in combination with formula and whether straight from the breast or expressed), is welcome to attend.

Like our support groups the session is free to attend, but unlike our groups, you do need to book.
