The girls busy bringing pollen in today 🐝

It’s fair to say the weather hasn’t been the best this past couple of weeks for bees foraging up here…but it’s great to see that the forecast is changing 🙌🙌❤️

We had a great day today at the Blakeley Farm open day on Moor road. It was wonderful seeing so many people visit to see how the farm operates behinds the scenes, from shearing sheep to milking cows for their raw milk.

Today is International Environment Day!

A couple of night ago we were asked to relocate some bumblebees who had made a home in a nesting box.

We took the box and moved them and here they are 😍🐝

Even if you don’t have a large garden, planting flowers and plants helps whole ecosystems, and makes for a nicer planet 🌍

Eat, sleep, bee-keep, repeat…

Tonight I’ve finally filtered and jarred some Staindrop honey from April’s harvest. Apologies if anyone has messaged recently about honey and are waiting…this is the moment I’ve been waiting for 🐝❤️

Apologies to anyone who suffers with trypophobia!

This is what we love to see in hives! Brand new honeycomb drawn out and full of eggs and larvae ❤️

For a worker bee, the time between the egg being played, and a bee hatching is 21 days! It’s 24 days for a male drone.

31/05/2026

It’s been a mammoth bee keeping weekend, and today we did a 12 hour day finishing at 10.30pm.

The girls have left the gorse up at Toft Hill and are now back in Staindrop 🐝

Tomorrow evening, jarring commences 💪

This is what the bees at Staindrop are foraging on 🐝

We are so lucky that the farmers who own the land next to us have planted acres and acres of mixed clover. It’s beautiful to see, and the bees love it 🥰
