Introducing Barista Spotlight, a new series dedicated to the incredible people behind the machine.
They are the ones who remember your exact order, perfect your morning brew, and bring the energy to every single cup. We will be sharing their go-to coffee orders, favorite beans, insider tips, and a few things you might not know about them outside the Brew Bar.
First up: Meet Sani, Captain Barista at Expat. Roasters, Petitenget.
Behind the Brew Bar with Sani:
Q: What is the best part about working at Expat. Roasters?
"Seeing regulars come in every day, sometimes twice a day, and remembering their little habits and usual orders. Those small connections are what make coffee feel personal."
Q: What is your favorite bean on rotation right now?
"Nomad. It is balanced, easy to drink, and enjoyable any time of day."
Q: What is the most memorable coffee order you have ever made?
"One regular always orders a decaf cappuccino with three quarter dry foam and oat milk. Very specific, but hey, that is what makes coffee personal!"
Q: What coffee should everyone try at least once?
A Hot Long Black with cold milk on the side. It is simple, clean, and really lets the espresso shine".
Off the Clock:
On days off, you can find her... Exploring quieter corners of Bali, from Tabanan to Singaraja, usually searching for local food spots and hidden beaches.
Song currently on repeat: Beautiful Day by Akon
Hidden talent: Cooking with her family.
Next time you are at Petitenget, say hi to Sani and try her Long Black recommendation.
