Not all treasure is gold. Sometimes, it’s a plant that hasn't been seen in the wild for 100 years.
Conservation in our tea gardens might happen behind the scenes, but it supports the very systems we all rely on, from healthy soil to clean water.
We are proud to be replanting the rare endemic Sri Lankan Kuudalu flowering plant (Impatiens cordata) at the Dilmah Queensberry Estate.
Once thought to be extinct, this plant species is a rare piece of our island’s natural heritage, it was recently re-discovered in three locations – one location being the Dilmah Queensberry Estate.
How we are bringing Kuudalu back at our estate:
* Specialised planting guided by the expertise of Dr. Bathiya Gopallawa.
* Nursery-raised seedlings nurtured right here on-site.
* Awareness sessions with our estate community so they can help us identify and protect this rare species in the wild.
