Many people believe some broiler breeds are "stronger" or "grow faster" than others. The truth is, a broiler is a broiler, or in Nigerian parlance, “Broiler na Broiler.”

Imagine two puppies from two different companies, but the same breed. One may look bigger or stronger, but if both are fed well, kept warm, vaccinated, and cared for properly, both can grow healthy.

It is the same with broilers.

ISA BROWN CHICKENS: Do They Have Males?

Yes. ISA Brown chickens do have males, but they are not usually sold for egg production.

Here's Why:
Female ISA Browns (pullets) are raised because they are excellent egg layers, often producing 300–350 brown eggs per year.

Male ISA Browns (cockerels) hatch alongside the females, but they do not lay eggs and are not efficient meat birds compared to broilers.

As a result, commercial hatcheries generally do not raise or sell them for laying operations.

If you buy day-old ISA Brown pullets from a hatchery, they are typically sexed, so you receive only females.

However, if you hatch ISA Brown eggs yourself or buy unsexed chicks, about half of the chicks will be male.

So, yes, ISA Brown has males—they're just not commonly seen on layer farms because they're not economically useful for egg production.
