Ashok Thakuri started the factory after receiving training in France and got all the necessary equipment as Aid from the French government. Acting as a true entrepreneur he starting from scratch, slowly raising hybrid goats from France and Nepal and then using Goat milk to make delicious cheese where he is helped by his family members. This goat cheese factory is providing a credible example of in
dividual initiative and leadership at the local level, which is especially inspiring given Nepal’s entrepreneurial climate and fluctuating business environment. French and Belgium technology is used for the processing of goat cheese. Currently there is 70 goats, which produce about 500 ml to 2 liter per day. Soft and hard two types of cheese variety is available along with other six to seven different organic flavored cheeses. The product is directly sent to hotels and restaurants in Kathmandu. Rates: The soft variety costs 3000 rupees per kg and hard cheese is sold for 4000 rupesper kg. the soft cheese cost per Pcs 250 and hard cheese cost per Pcs 1500. The goat cheese farm is also a home stay guest house so we did actually see couple of tourist enjoying themselves and rural Nepal.
