It’s been nearly a week since the open and the gratitude is yet to slip. We had an amazing night here at Wolf, supporting and celebrating those members of the community that stepped up into our stage.

This is the coffee those baristas explored, tweaked, and perfected. Roasted by George with this competition in mind. Brew at home, taste the competition and get fuelled for next year. Limited quantity available.

The Barista Open - Wolf Coffee Roasters Recap

We may have had the honour of hosting the first Barista Open, but it was all of you that really turned it into an absolute belter.

Firstly, big kudos to the 14 courageous humans that stepped up onto the stage (some for the first time ever) and big love to the crowd of people that came to shout, cheer and vibe.

Secondly, thank you to all the sponsors of this event that made it happen in the first place, but also came in to help get us set up and ensure the night ran smoothly.

Congratulations to Samara taking the win here at Wolf, well deserved. We look forward to seeing where your journey goes and helping to support you on your way.

Shoutout to our Head Roaster George for getting a competition roast of our Narino Co-Op prepped for the night (will be available online soon)!

Lastly, round of applause for our MC of the night for keeping the energy flowing but also giving each competitor their deserved spot light. 10/10, even after 4 hours of shouting.

To all those who competed, thank you for turning up, throwing down and bringing your effort and energy. It takes a lot to step in front of a crowd, you all crushed it.

16g coffee / 250g water
Medium coarse / 92 degrees

0:00 - 50g pour
0:45 - 100g pour
1:15 - 50g pour
1:45 - 50g pour
2:15~ Drawdown

“Over the last year or so I’ve just been grinding coarser and coarser. I’m at a stage where I’m just playing around with variables more instead of sticking to one recipe. With this processed coffee I wanted to pull out that tartness while also adding some body to my cup. A little bypass after never hurt.” - George

Recently at Wolf

Ben heard a really good joke but won’t tell us what it was. Autumn has truly coated Arrowtown. George roasted lots of beans including our new Indonesian single origin. We sadly said goodbye to Jacob who is heading off to Canada, thank you for letting your personality run wild.
