The City of Abilene would like to extend its deepest condolences to the family and friends of Firefighter Hunter Patterson, and the entire Abilene Fire Department.

Firefighter Patterson was a husband and father, and a beloved member of AFD. We are grateful for Patterson's 11 years of service to our community, and invite others to join us in prayer for his family and friends.

Firefighter Patterson and a friend passed away during the early morning hours of Friday, May 15, 2026 after being involved in an off-duty vehicle accident on State Highway 36.
