This past weekend we made our way up to temple!

Our weekend started off a little rough as we lost a wheel on the trailer and ended up dragging the axle for only god knows how long! When we realized we had lost it we pulled over hacked up the trailer and wedged a piece of wood under the load leveler and we were able to limp our way the remaining 8 miles to the cook off! Daniel Moody with Heart Of Texas RV Pros, LLC saved the day and was able to get us fixed up on Friday! While his team was working on the one tire he had a look at the others and they needed work as well! We dropped the trailer off on our way home on Sunday!

Heidi Holliman did an awesome job as the promoter for this cook off!!

Laura Caldwell ran a smooth judging room except for her printer!

As for the cook we thought we had a solid cook! We were only able to secure one wall and it was for 1st margarita!

As for the rest of the cook we landed

We made the long 15 minute drive over to Mcdade, Texas for the Mcdade Watermelon Fest bbq cookoff! We are all setup and ready to roll smoke in a few short hours!!

This past weekend we made the last-minute decision to load up the bbq trailer and head down to Shiner, Texas for the Half Moon Holidays.

We got in later than we typically do and got straight to work, unloading the trailer and prepping our meats. Once we had everything prepped and ready we ate some dinner with Jared Mccrory and Lacey McCrory! That pork roast was banging!!

Saturday morning, we got up and got the Outlaw BBQ Smokers rolling smoke!! Everything was going good until ribs; I ended up spilling my rib sauce all over the trailer. We adapted and finished our cook!

Huge thanks to Rachel L Targac for letting me hitch a ride back and forth to turn in!

We thought we had a solid cook and the judges somewhat agreed with us!

After awards we ended up with

16th chicken
1st ribs
14th pork
17th brisket
and 10th overall

Not a bad day at the office!!

We are home and recovered from cooking at the Barbecue Capital Showdown in Lockhart, Texas yesterday! It was a scorcher for sure!

The promoters Gabe and Shawna did an amazing job putting this event together! We will definitely be back next year.

The judging room was ran smoothly by Mrs. Brenda and Will with CBA.

As for us we started the cook off on Friday night by turning in some of Heather Kirk Kramer green tomatillo salsa and her creamy tomatillo salsa. 

We started our chili and beans then ended the night judging bartenders choice!

Saturday morning we got up and got the Outlaw BBQ Smokers rolling smoke with some Texas Original Charcoal Co. and seasoned our meats!

Got our beans turned in and Everything was running flawlessly until it was time to pull chicken off and box it. Our step that we use in front of our trailer decided to break right as I was going into the trailer with both of our chicken halves.

Picture me stepping down and the step breaking chicken going flying in the air, and me going down, chicken landing skin down on the rugs and being covered in dirt/grass/sand. With less than 2 minutes to turn in I quickly get up and grab the wings off the pit and throw them in the box and make my way to turn in.

The rest of the day went smoothly and we were able to get everything turned in and then it was up to the judges and they some what liked what we gave them.

At this point into awards I was ready to sell everything then boom 2nd pork(found out afterwards that I tied for 1st)
5th brisket
17th creamy salsa
19th green salsa
14th beans

6th overall

It was our very first time cooking a sanctioned chili cook off and we walked away with 7th place chili!! Huge shout out to David Lindquist for the recipe!

At the end of the day we couldn’t do it without the love and support of my wife and kids!
