Its a long read but worth it... 😏
🥹💕 This past week we celebrated 2 years of You Betcha Cookies AND my birthday! 🎉🍪 But something else happened this week that made it extra special...
Growing up Grandma Schweiger who was (and still is) my favorite person ❤️ taught me A LOT about baking and so many of my memories involve being in the kitchen with her....BUT there was ONE recipe that I had asked her to write down idk how many times and there was always a reason as to why she couldnt and she took to the grave with her🤦♀️😢 my ALL-TIME FAVORITE frosting 😭🍰
As a kid I would sneak in the kitchen and eat ALL the frosting off the cake and leave the plain cake for everyone else to eat😅🤣🫣 It had nuts in it and it threw off the flavor in my opinion 🤪 and Let’s just say I was LOVINGLY known as Grandma’s “little s**t” 😂❤️ And honestly… I wore that title proudly! Even had it made into a necklace after she died so everyone knew too 😍🤣 she was my person and a piece of me died when she did...
I’ve been searching for that frosting recipe since 2010 and THIS PAST WEEK I FINALLY FOUND IT! 🥹😭❤️ The timing couldn’t have been more perfect.
So now you know the story behind the caramel frosting thats on top of this week’s vanilla bean dessert bread 🥰 It’s more than just frosting to me...It’s a little piece of my childhood a memory of my grandma and a reminder of the love she poured into teaching me to bake is still a part of everything I make today. ❤️
Two years of You Betcha Cookies, another trip around the sun, and a little piece of Grandma found again. 🥹🍪💕
I have a feeling Grandma would be pretty happy knowing her little s**t is still making a mess in the kitchen and has her own cookie stand 😂❤️👵🏻
