EV Charging Safety Tip:
Not Every Dryer Outlet Is Ready for EV Charging
We're seeing more homeowners purchase adapters online and plug their EV chargers into existing dryer receptacles. While it may seem like a quick and inexpensive solution, it's important to understand the risks.
Electric vehicle charging is considered a continuous load, often drawing significant power for hours at a time. Many existing dryer receptacles, especially older devices or lower-quality installations were not designed for the repeated continuous loading that EV charging can create.
