I couldn’t have loved hearing Adam speak at the conference any more if you told me I had to.

Everyone grieves. Everyone. You know is included in everyone? Blue collar men.

If you’re blue collar, a man who has been taught wrongly not to grieve, or ever been taught to “suck it up”. Please give a listen to Adam.

We need more men who will speak like this. Thank you Adam Daviau Sr.

"Man up." "Suck it up." "You need to be strong for everyone else." That's the grief training most blue-collar men get.

One thing I hear a lot from both adult children who want to talk to their aging parents and aging parents who want to talk to their children..."I' don't know how to start these conversations." "They don't like to talk about it." 🗣

I get it. I hear you. I was that person who shushed both of my parents when they wanted to talk about it. I said, "We don't need to talk about this NOW." and "Oh STOP! You're not dying."
SPOILER ALERT-They are both dead. 🚨⚱⚱

Sometimes the most meaningful conversations begin with one simple sentence:
"Can I ask you something?" Then let it flow naturally. Expect a little resistance, but keep asking. 🗯️♥️

No one has to have all the answers. You just have to be willing to start the conversation. 🫂

Say Their Name Wednesday ❤️

Tell me about someone whose little habits still make you smile. ☺️

Maybe they always whistled while they worked. (My sweet grandpa.)
Maybe they couldn't leave the house without checking the dryer was off three times. (My grandmother.)
Maybe they ordered dessert first. (My mom-usually tiramisu to be exact.)
Maybe they had a laugh that filled the whole room. (Both of my parents)

Those little quirks are often the things we miss most. Today, let's remember them.

No Death Café in August — we are taking a short summer break.

Carbon County Death Café is part of an international movement that offers a safe, welcoming, and friendly space to talk openly about death, dying, grief, and end-of-life concerns. It is a place to share thoughts, ask questions, listen to others, and have meaningful conversations about topics that are often difficult to discuss. Guests are invited to gather together, enjoy a snack and water, and connect with others in a relaxed and compassionate setting.

For three and a half years, Carbon County Death Café has been held at Within Harmony, where the kindness and support of owners Dave and Aileen have provided a welcoming space for community members to come together, reflect, and share meaningful conversations.
