Last Friday, Brattleboro hosted a special screening of with Amy Goodman .

The film follows Amy Goodman's personal journey alongside some of the most significant stories and movements of the last three decades, highlighting the vital role independent journalism plays in revealing truths that might otherwise go unheard.

The evening included a conversation with Amy Goodman, her brother David Goodman (host of VT Digger's The Vermont Conversation), Carl Deal (co-director of the film), Ariel Goodman (award-winning journalist and Amy's niece), and of course, Zazu the Good Pup.

Listening to Amy reflect on more than 30 years of independent journalism, one phrase stayed with me:

"Go to where the silence is, and say something."

I felt deeply moved by those words.

For me, Green Mountain Ramen has become our way of speaking into a silence that exists around food.

As a nurse, I've watched nutrition become increasingly disconnected from healthcare.

As a community member, I've watched good food become harder to afford.

As a business owner, I've watched inflation change people's buying habits, eating habits, and even how often they gather together in public.

We don't believe the answer is waiting for someone else to solve it.

Real change often begins at the community level.

Our Pay-It-Forward / Pay-What-You-Can model is our way of saying something.

It's people helping people.

Ramen lover helping other ramen lovers.

It's recognizing that when times get harder, communities can either pull apart or pull together.

We're choosing to pull together.

If someone can pay full price, wonderful.

If someone wants to pay a little extra to help their neighbor, wonderful.

If someone needs a little help this week, that's okay too.

Because a resilient community is one that finds ways to care for its own.

Food is medicine.

Community is medicine.

And sometimes, saying something starts with serving a bowl of ramen.

Special Thank you to everyone at Latches Theater and Brattleboro Community TV for making this amazing event happen!

The crew made port at Marigold Brattleboro, a legendary outpost known throughout the Downtown Brattleboro system for its glorious vegetarian provisions. After many cycles spent tending the ramen engines, we gathered around the table to enjoy a feast worthy of seasoned spacefarers.

The atmosphere aboard this establishment is second to none. One of the coolest dining halls in the entire Brattleboro quadrant. The acoustics are exceptional, carrying conversation and laughter across the room like a gentle cosmic breeze.

Moments like these remind this captain why I love this town. Good food. Good people. Good vibes. A place where travelers, dreamers, artists, and space pirates alike can gather around a shared table.

To the crew, to the community, and to the little corner of the universe we call home, cheers.

Using this rare lull between crafting bowls of ramen and charting a course through the cosmos, the Captain has docked at one of the finest treasures these lands have to offer, Brisket Mac & Cheese from Top of the Hill Grill.

Even a ramen pirate must occasionally step away from the galley to study the culinary wonders of distant ports. Today’s mission: replenish the crew, savor the bounty, and gather inspiration for future adventures.

Until the next bowl is served, may your stomach be full and your horizons wide.

Captain’s Log: June 8, 2026
Earth Time: 7:77 AM

Shutting down our operation at Heart Rose was a difficult decision, but it was a necessary one.

For the first time in a while, we’ve had a chance to visit family, rest, and reflect.
In this quiet space, we’re turning our attention inward and asking an important question: What do we truly want to bring forth into the world?

At Green Mountain Ramen, we believed that food is medicine.
Ingredients matter. Farmers matter. The energy and intention behind a meal matter.

As we look toward the next chapter, we're exploring how we can continue making nourishing food accessible to those seeking it, while building a system that is sustainable, resilient, and aligned with our values.

To everyone who has supported us, shared a bowl with us, volunteered, donated, attended karaoke, listened to live music, or simply believed in what we're trying to build.

Thank you.

Your support has carried us farther than you know.

This is not the end of a chapter so much as the beginning of a new one.

We have some exciting updates on the horizon, and we look forward to sharing them with you soon.

Until then, we'll keep listening, learning, and preparing for what comes next.

Food is Medicine.
Community is Medicine.
See you soon, crew. πŸœπŸ΄β€β˜ οΈ
