In Search of HOT Chicken We are seeking, researching and eating our way through Nashvilles hot chicken. So I was told that I had to experience hot chicken. Not sure why, but I was.

Several years ago 2 bored Firefighters wanted to get out into Nashville and have lunch. After Rodney introduced me to hot chicken at Prince’s, I was hooked. A couple shifts later at shift change, Rodney and I were discussing where we would go next, Burke chimed in (as always) and asked why he wasn’t invited. We told him we

don’t invite anyone, just that all firefighters, past, present are always welcome. He said that this was not a good form of communication and dared us to make a page. Well, since we are unable to back down to people like Burke, who are only good at golf and firefighting, not much more, we made the page and the rest is history! Since then, millions of people have benefited from our research and we have been asked by Mark to slow our roll, since his servers can’t keep up. Sorry, Zuck, we aren’t stopping our search for hot chicken, deal with it.

Our nephew Jon Rhoades from NY and his wife Audrey made their annual trek to Nashville to see the fireworks and patronize the bars on Broadway.

Not in that order.

Anyway, they stumbled on 10 hot chicken food trucks and had Prince’s medium tenders.

Here’s Audrey’s response…..

“The chicken tenders were so crispy perfectly seasoned. It was a delicious chicken. I will be back”.

She told me it was the best tender she ever had.

Audrey, you have good taste. At least in chicken!

We had perfect weather for some outdoor dining today at Bishops in Franklin.

Four of us in attendance and two had quarters while two had tenders.

Quarters came out first which was odd and the both were a little dry. This is not the norm for Bishops so they get a mulligan here.

Tenders for tender and tasted great. Sides as always were good and we think Bishops is still in the top 5 for Nashville chicken.

Recon: Buffalo NY

After leaving Indy we headed to Buffalo for the night to try the original Anchor Bar wings.

This place has the northern significance of Prince’s for producing the chicken wing as we know it today.

Although they weren’t as crispy or as hot as I like, I asked for the original and enjoyed them. Cooked right but a little too much vinegar and saucy for me but loved the atomosphere.

Glad we went and a very cool place!!
