If you've spent the summer taking care of everyone but yourself... consider this your permission slip. 💟

Summer has a way of asking a lot more from our homes.

The kids are home... with all of their stuff.
Memories are in the making... which can be messy.
Swim gear is waterlogged ... and your laundry is backlogged.
The pantry is stocked... or at least it was five minutes ago.
Bedtime is... more of a suggestion. 😉

By August, it's easy to look around and think, "I'll deal with it when things settle down."

Fortunately, yellow school buses have a funny way of bringing routines back with them. 🚌

This summer, our TDO team intentionally gave ourselves a little more breathing room to reset our own homes before a busy fall.

Not because we expect perfection, but because we know your home should support the season you're in. That's true for our families, and it's true for yours.

Not every home needs a shoe closet like this. (or does it? 😉)

One of the most underrated kitchen luxuries?
A setup that can pivot with you.

Everyone loves a built-in moment, but, actually ...
Flexibility often wins. 🙌🏼

This kitchen didn’t have the custom peg system you see in a lot of kitchen cabinetry, so we created the same function with movable plate holders instead.

I think there's a strong argument that this setup works even better.

▪ Plates stay separated by size
▪ Nothing shifts around when the drawer opens
▪ Entire stacks can be lifted out by the handles and carried straight to the table
▪ And, if your needs change later? The whole drawer can change with you.

That last part matters more than people realize.

Sometimes, after living in a kitchen, you discover the plates would function better in a different drawer altogether. When your storage isn’t permanently locked into one layout, you actually have the freedom to improve it as your needs and lifestyle change.

Good organization isn’t just about creating a pretty system.
It’s about designing one smart enough to evolve.

A Prepped Pantry:
✅ Features containers that are easy to use for little hands
✅ Fosters independence by putting kids' stuff down low and ask-before-you-eat stuff up high
✅ Allows easy viewing of what categories are running low

A Struggle-Bus Pantry:
🚍 Has no categorization or boundaries, causing mass confusion
🚍 Allows for half-eaten food in opened boxes to go stale
🚍 Is where snack dreams and dinner planning go to die

This doesn't happen by accident. Every detail is meticulously considered:

Since Cinco de Mayo hit on a rainy Tuesday (and the day after I had to take my husband to the ER for a dislocated shoulder), I grant you (and me) permission to celebrate it this weekend instead. 🍋‍🟩🌮

And, since we're all trying to survive this crazy end-of-the-school-year month ...

Let's just call our weekend celebration simply "Mayo." 🍹 It's 5 o'clock.
