The Meaning Behind the Red

As we celebrate Juneteenth, we wanted to share the significance of the beautiful red color in our Strawberry Cake.

In Juneteenth traditions, the color red symbolizes resilience, strength, sacrifice, and the blood shed by enslaved Africans in the fight for freedom. Red foods and drinks have long been a part of Juneteenth celebrations, honoring the perseverance and cultural heritage of African Americans.

Our Strawberry Cake is more than a sweet treat, it's a small way to recognize and celebrate a rich history, a journey toward freedom, and the enduring spirit of a people who overcame incredible adversity.

This week, as we enjoy good food, family, and community, let's also reflect on the significance of Juneteenth and the generations who made this day possible.

This Friday and Saturday, we are bringing the flavor, the history, and the soul to the weekend line-up! In honor of Juneteenth, Groovy Chicken and Waffles is pulling out all the stops with a special featured menu that you do not want to miss.
Come through, celebrate freedom, and treat yourself to some serious comfort food:

On The Menu This Weekend:
2 Featured Main Event Entrees:
1. Slow cooked Oxtails paired perfectly with your choice of Original or Sweet Potato Gritz
2. Meatloaf Bowl (Meatloaf w/Red Sauce, Mash Taters, and Corn)

The Sweet Treat: Strawberry Cake

The Refreshment: Strawberry Sweet Tea

Red foods and drinks are a beautiful, historic tradition for Juneteenth, symbolizing resilience, joy, and celebration and we are proud to keep that tradition delicious! Don't worry we will still have our standard menu.

Y'all WACKED OUT yesterday! 😲 We went through 20 quarts of banana pudding and had to grab fresh farm eggs to make another batch.

Hey Groovy Fam,
We truly thought we’d be able to roll out after a minor medical procedure, but the doctor advised rest to recover properly. So we’ll be closed on Tuesday while I take that time to heal.
