What is smoke on the River
Smoke on the River is benefiting the Godfrey and Williams families. There will be
BBQ teams submitting their creation judged by celebrities, live music, college football
games, a silent auction, bounce house, snow cones, face painting and games
for the kids. Dinner will be served after the competition from 5-8pm for $10 a plate;
all proceeds go directly to the benefit.
Where and When
September 28th from 4pm‐11pm.
The event will be held in the heart of downtown directly across from the city marina
At Edwards Drive and Jackson Street. There will be parking conveniently surrounding
the site.
The event starts at 4pm, BBQ Judging is at 5pm, Bands start at 6pm, food will be
served between 5-8pm.

BENEFITTING THE GODFREY AND WILLIAMS FAMILIES
Melissa Godfrey is an amazing wife, sister,
daughter and friend. Her children Ryan 9
and Madilyn 7 are the centers of her universe.
On April 13, 2103 she married Dave
Godfrey. Less than two weeks after, feeling
worn down from the excitement surrounding
the wedding, Melissa was told she had
Acute Leukemia. A week later she began
seven continuous days of chemotherapy.
She is still battling her Leukemia today!
Trisha Williams was a devoted wife and
mother of two children. On Thursday, May
23, 2013 Trisha passed away at the young
age of 37. It is her husband's belief that her
passing may have been due to a previously
undiagnosed heart condition. She is survived
by her beloved husband of 13 years,
Julian "Brett" Williams of Cape Coral and
two beautiful children; Ryder, 9 and
Camryn, 5 Williams.

BBQ Cook off Participants Registration
First Annual Smoke on the River
Benefitting the Godfrey and Williams Family
The BBQ cook‐off is open to the Fort Myers community on September 28th from 4pm‐11pm benefitting the
Godfrey (2) and Williams (2) children. We will have teams of BBQ cookers submitting their creation for a trophy
awarded by our celebrity judges. Dinner will be served after the competition for $10 a plate; all proceeds go
directly to the benefit. All donations collected at the event will secure future possibilities for the Godfrey and
Williams children.
The event will be held downtown on the corner of Edwards and Jackson streets on the river. There will be a $5
admissions fee and is open to the public.
By offering your culinary skills at the Smoke on the River cook‐off, you will have recognition at a public event
during a busy evening downtown. There will be a silent auction, live bands, food, entertainment and much more.
The cook‐off is children friendly with a bounce house, snow cones, face painting and games.
You will have the opportunity to show our celebrity judges what you can do. Each BBQ participant will receive Pork
Butts and briskets to cook and submit for final judging. Hot Dogs will also be provided for the kids attending the
event.
