THE MEANING OF 'WIXA HERO'
WIXA HERO (wixa-hero) is our term used to connect two concepts; the tangible Wixárika culture (WIXA) and the impact (HERO) a customer makes in the lives of Wixárika artists by purchasing WIXA HERO products. WIXA
The Wixárika culture is one of the oldest in Mexico, which strives to maintain the native traditions of their ancestors dating back to the indigenous population

of Mexico. The culture is currently comprised of only a few remaining communities throughout the Sierra Madre Mountains, and is fighting for survival daily due to the lack of basic resources such as food and clean drinking water that is a direct result of inconsistent demand of their art. With the lack of work, the Wixárikas are being forced to leave their families behind to larger cities such as Guadalajara and Mexico City to sell their products. HERO
By SHARING the culture, customers SAVE the day with every purchase made of WIXA HERO products. Every product purchased guarantees a full day of work for one person, and resources for their families. Not only does this make a meaningful change in the lives of the artists and their families, but also the community as a whole. WIXA HERO is the link between a dying culture, and the customers that can save it. Every day the Wixárika people must overcome challenges of affording basic resources to survive. Although SAVING the day for this culture can be done by simply SHARING their art in your life. With every sale, WIXA HERO provides revenue to improving the Wixárika communities by building education centers, clean water facilities, and a stronger infrastructure.
