So what is Chef Roni up to these days? Well, after spending a year around the country volunteering my cooking skills in a humanitarian capacity, and then returning to Texas for about 6 months formulating a plan, I am now in Denver. I received a scholarship to Johnson and Wales University so I am finally going to finish my degree! After a lot of thought about my future, I have decided to convert my credits from a straight Culinary Arts degree to a Bachelors in Culinary Science so I can get into culinary research and development. I'm super excited about this next phase of my life - school starts this coming Monday. I'm working full-time and will be attending school full-time, as well. I'll be tired, but it will be worth it.
Since it's now 1 year since Hurricane Harvey began its brutal attack on SE Texas, I have decided to share a few pictures of what we did in Texas when we deployed there with a salvage kitchen from Standing Rock. Feeding the people in need was a humbling experience and we were blessed with the unbelievably compassionate and strong people we met along the way. Water protectors from Standing Rock went to Texas to help the people there and it was an honor to have served with the same Veterans I worked with at Standing Rock.
I'll post updates from time-to-time. Love to you all!
