[TLDR: I don't wear gloves because I wash my hands a million times a day]
As I post more videos, some of you may notice that I don't wear gloves. I know there are different opinions on that and I'll give you mine. If cottage laws change I will definitely (unhappily) comply, but here are my reasons.
-Most importantly, gloves can give a false sense of security. Look around you at restaurants. Plenty (not all, obviously) of workers will wear gloves from the cash register to the drive thru to the friers, etc. while wearing the same pair of gloves. From touching money to touching your food.
Other examples I love to talk about: on a cooking show, I once saw a contestant wearing gloves grab the top of his trash can, then go right back to his cooktop. Apparently they didn't notice that during editing. Another one, I was a teenager working in a store with a deli. I'm old enough that when I was a teenager, you could smoke wherever you wanted. As I worked the register, the deli worker, while wearing gloves, mopped the entire floor, sat down and smoked a cigarette, then got up and helped a customer in the deli. π³ That's a core memory for me lol
-I wash my hands approx. 1,643 per day. Any question about it just look at them. They are usually dry and cracked and look older than the rest of me. Every time there is a cut in a video or I move out of frame, I'm washing my hands along with whatever else I'm doing. If I open my fridge, cabinet, touch my phone, etc, I wash my hands.
-I'm well aware of my responsibilities to you in my kitchen. I take every safety measure and do everything I can to maintain a safe and clean kitchen.
If you ever have questions please don't hesitate to send me a message. As always, I try to be as transparent as ever. I 100% think gloves are a wonderful tool when used correctly. I just know I would go through a box a day because I'm so aware of the things that are touched. Instead I wash my hands more than anything else I do in a day.
Anyway, thanks for coming to my Ted talk
