Why We Roast

We consider Guatemala our second home, part of our story, and a huge part of our hearts as a family. In 2008 we lead our first missions team to a little village in the Guatemalan mountains and our lives were forever changed. Two years later we got rid of most of our belongings and moved there with 3 kids in tow at the time, to help some local initiatives. Over those years, we developed a relationship with a Guatemalan family, the Leiva’s, who made an impact on our lives by the way they choose to care for their own community, dedicating their 4th generation coffee farm (Finca de Esperanza) to providing jobs and resources for many living in poverty in rural Guatemala.

After moving back to the states we remained connected to Guatemala, leading teams annually, and supporting ministries there that pour back into the local community there. For years, we have dreamed of how we can continue to be a part of bringing change to these areas of abject poverty. Because of the inspiration of the Leiva’s, our family is now able to purchase their single-origin, organically grown coffee beans, and roast each batch to order; knowing that every bag sold is a part of a greater plan, bringing hope and FREEDOM for many that are in great need.

Over the years our desire to advocate for those who are in poverty or come from a place of brokenness has grown into a passion for our entire family...all 8 of us! In 2015, we became foster parents and since then our family has been wrecked in a glorious way because of the many children that have called us home for a time, and most of all because we were given the great privilege of adopting 2 precious little girls through foster care. Our passion for coming alongside foster families and biological families of the children in care has become a calling for our family.

We believe everyone can get involved and be a part of bringing hope and FREEDOM to children and families locally and internationally. Even if it’s by purchasing a bag of coffee. Your purchase allows us to reinvest a portion of our proceeds to those in need. Thank you for being a part of making big changes in small ways. One cup at a time. One bag of coffee at a time.
