Oat and velvet mesquite pancakes. It’s no surprise that mesquite flavor takes over and it’s just delicious 🤤. Different yet familiar to me with earthy finish.

Mesquite trees are natives to the high desert. I always feel great energy when I feed myself locally grown nutrition. The trees grow huge. The fruit looks like long bean pods. We dry the Entire pod and grind it into flour. It’s full of nutrition and high in protein and fiber.

A friend gifted me some flour from beans that grew in their yard while my trees grow big.

I can’t wait to try the flour in my bread baking.

Nopales. Prickly pear cactus is not just a cactus that grows in the desert, it’s actual food.

Nopales are the ones that have almost no thorns or little ones. Actually one of my friends has some with no thorns (just grew like that). They can be used for smoothies and grilling. Nopales tacos are amazing.

That’s just the Pedals, fruit is another amazingly yummy story.

Here I was gifted the pedals so i made a smoothie (pedal, raw agave and ice). Surprisingly hydrating and filling. No wonder bunnies love these..

I have had an amazing time growing, playing, and learning about my surroundings this summer.

The “string bean” in the photo is actually desert edamame. That’s just what we call it. It’s delicious and taste just like edamame, so I am growing the plant that was gifted to me by a friend - Best things in life are free. LOL.

Visited Ernesto in morongo. All i have to say is what a treat! Love all his efforts with all the plants. Thank you for sharing; Nopal smoothie was so hydrating, has it's own taste (I really enjoyed). It was so hot the day I made the smoothie and it really refreshed me. worth all the work getting rid of the thorns. (for the smoothie i just blended up two Nopal leaves with raw agave and ice - that's it! - one could add green apple but great as is; i like to taste the flavor of what i am eating not mask it with lots of other flavors, so for me the smoothie was great as is...) Ernesto; your mom is proud!. And the desert edamame! WOW! they taste just like edamame but soooo much better! This proves the theory of eating local is the best thing one can do! Thank you for sharing your generosity and friendship. I still have to make lemon grass tea... looking forward!

Happy Spring. It’s spring time here and everything around us is in full bloom. It’s really refreshing to watch and notice nature like this. So i am in a flower mood.

I will call this avocado creation Hugh, because Hugh loves avocado toast and eats them any and every chance he can get. What a wonderful habit. This particular toast was created for my daughter Uma.

Here I used a Wasa multigrain cracker because the homemade bread I make gives smaller slices and the flower is too big for the slice LOL. Cracker has organic Elive Food cilantro pesto, organic arugula, some sea salt crystals and black pepper sprinkled on top.

Spring is a short season here in JT. We’ll turn around and here’s summer.

We actually have a hummingbird who has decided to build it’s nest right by our front door so we have to now use our side entrance to come and go from which is ok because i love watching the hummingbird sit in the nest 😍

Summer and eating light go hand in hand for me. It’s interesting how the body automatically wants to eat more raw foods when it’s hot as opposed to winter time.

Below👇🏽RECIPE for nutritious substitute for mayo. There are multiple ways to refresh certain food we make that will keep for a few days. Here, chick pea salad a top cucumber slices and sweet peppers. Radishes were eaten before the photo lol. Then next day the leftover salad was enjoyed for lunch as open face sandwich with the freshly baked bread and micro greens.

Our weather here in Joshua Tree is hot “ish” during the day and cool at night which is amazing but that means no cooking especially in the oven during the day.

So bread baking is switched to night time which has it’s own benefit, I don’t have to torture myself while the bread is cooling down. Bread cools off during the night ready for the following morning yeh!

The recipe- organic
5. oz raw cashews soaked
1 tsp lemon juiced
1/8 tsp sea salt
2.5 oz alkaline water

High speed blender is needed for this recipe to get it super creamy.
Avoid adding too much additional water (which means stopping and scrapping down of the jar content)
Blend until super smooth and refrigerate. Use as desired
