If you’re already putting in the effort and not seeing it reflect, you just need a different approach now. I’m running a workshop that explains why and what to do instead.

As a fitness coach for the last 12 years, I’ve seen all sorts of mistakes with the lateral lunge.

Here are 3 of the biggest mistakes I see, in no particular order…

❌ Leaning to the side instead of sitting into your hips

Any time someone tells me they have knee pain on lateral lunges I know EXACTLY what they’re doing wrong.

Done properly, lateral lunges should NOT hurt your knees.

You’re simply shifting your hips back into your hip socket, loading your adductors (groin) and posterior chain (glutes and hamstrings) muscles.

Your knee won’t track laterally after you complete the step. It will remain stationary.

❌ Not stepping wide enough

To fully engage your adductors (groin), you need to step wide enough to keep a deep stretch.

How far should you step?

As far as you can while maintaining control of the movement.

❌ Keeping your torso too upright

A lateral lunge is a posterior hip shift.

Your hips should be going back.

In order to get your hips back you need to let your torso come forward to counterbalance the movement.

Make sure to save these tips for later and follow for more videos like this!

If you’re over 40

Here’s how to look and feel younger than most people your age…

1. Lift heavy weights 3-4x/week
2. Do cardio 1-3x/week
3. Walk 10k steps/day
4. Eat the appropriate calories for your goals
5. Eat 0.7 to 1.2 g/lb of BW in protein
6. Do mobility work 10 minutes/day
7. Get rid of negative people
8. Do athletic activities like hiking, biking, running or jumping every week

Consistency compounds!

How do I stay consistent with my workouts, meal prep and nutrition as a father, husband, home owner and business owner?

My morning routine is a HUGE part of it!

I get up at 5 a.m. each day (yes, I get woken up almost each night by my kids haha).

I don’t hit “Snooze” because 10-30 minutes of mediocre sleep won’t help me with my goals.

I drink a tall glass of water, take a quick walk to get my steps in and get to work!

What's your morning routine? Leave a comment below! 👇🏻

A couple of weeks ago, I had the pleasure of being a guest on the My Fit Tribe podcast with Erika Sweeney .

We talked about how I got started in the fitness industry, my journey over the years and some of the core beliefs that drive both me and our team at Total Life Fitness.

I hadn't done a podcast interview in quite a while, so it was great to get back out there and share our story.

Thanks so much, Erika, for having me on and for building such a great podcast!

She said the episode should be released in the next couple of months, and I'll be sure to share it here once it's live 👍

🔥 Comment below or DM “PROCESS” to get results like Lynn

Lynn had reached the heaviest weight of her life.

Her cholesterol was climbing and her doctor told her she needed to lose weight.

The frustrating part is she was already exercising 5 days per week and trying to eat better.

But the scale barely moved.

Once Lynn joined our program, she finally had a clear process to follow with nutrition guidance, structured workouts and accountability.

She’s now down 50 pounds, fitting into clothes she hasn’t worn in years, and most importantly, she’s kept the weight off!

If you feel like you’re doing the right things but still not seeing results, you don’t need another diet, you need a better PROCESS.

🔥 Comment below or DM “PROCESS” and I’ll send you the details.

Ladies, it can be difficult for husbands to understand it’s a lot more difficult for women to lose weight than men…
