October 28, 2025.. The day everything in my personal life and business (Cheeks Chicken & Waffles, Manchester, CT) flipped upside down (in an unexpectedly great way) ❤️
The moment we posted about our initiative, “NO KID SHOULD EVER GO HUNGRY,” on Facebook, it blew up on social media within minutes. Notifications were coming in nonstop.. people liking, commenting on, and sharing the post. IT WAS JUST UNBELIEVABLE!
To be honest, after seeing this unexpected response, I did get a little worried because of our kitchen capacity and staffing issues at the time. But I had made a COMMITMENT, and it was one I would never back out of..
So, what was next? We took the next half-day off just to plan everything, buy supplies, placed big orders with our suppliers and figure out how to make it happen ..
News channels started calling to set up interviews, which was all new to me because I had never imagined I would be giving a news interview.. I ended up doing almost six!
Well, let’s keep it short .. the response and love we received after that are truly beyond words. That day changed so much in our lives, both personally and in business. We are so thankful to this amazing community for standing by us and helping us bring our numbers from negative to at least positive, where we can now afford to pay ourselves. That means a lot to us 🫶
