A dear friend recently asked us if the donut truck is more than we thought it would be, and it truly is so much more. These kids are so much more incredible. They are so much more capable. They are so much more extraordinary. Their links are so much more amazing. Mr. Boven’s digital media class was far more than we could have imagined, and their creative videos added so much more to our page!

And Mattawan, you have been more than we could have hoped for, too. You have wrapped around us and this little truck, and our story and given us so much more love. There’s so much beauty in this little town of ours, and I’m daring to hope for so much more to come. Together, we are more. ❤️

Are you familiar with what a ‘link’ is at Mattawan schools? Mattawan schools has many things that I love, but this program, is by far, one of the dearest to my heart.

Links are regular ed students that wrap around our students with special needs. They see them every day, they help them in tasks… they build them up. In a world that tells us as parents all of the things our kids can never do, these young people step in and level the playing field.

This sweet girl was Zachs link. She is an amazing young lady. She championed my son. She choreographed a dance for his talent show, and recruited a bunch of back up dancers to dance and even threw confetti canons into the crowd while Zach lip synced his song of choice. I told you she was amazing!

This young man is another link in Zach’s class. He’s a stellar athlete but an even better man. He has played in Zach’s no limits games for years and made Zach feel like he was on top of the world. When I thanked him after Zach’s last game for all that he has done for my son, he said something that will impact me forever. He looked me straight in the eye, and said, “I love Zach, he’s my friend.”

These two just graduated and they are going on to big things. I know they will most certainly change the world, in fact, they already have for my son.
