Sometimes “small business” looks like this.

It looks like a Saturday afternoon with someone kneeling outside a window, hand-lettering signs one brushstroke at a time. It looks like friends stopping by to help, pastries cooling inside, coffee brewing, and everyone believing in the same little place.

Every improvement you see at North has a story behind it. It isn’t built by one person—it’s built by neighbors, family, customers who tell their friends, artists who donate their time, people who encourage us on the hard days, and a community that keeps showing up.

We’re incredibly grateful.

Our hope has never been to simply serve coffee. It’s to create a place where people gather, slow down, meet someone new, reconnect with an old friend, or simply enjoy a really good cup in a town worth falling in love with.

Thank you for helping write this story with us. Every visit, every kind word, every shared post, every coffee—it all matters more than you know.

Somewhere along the way, coffee became something we grab on the run.

A paper cup.
A drive-thru window.
A destination that lasts all of three minutes! Sometimes no interaction with another human being.

We’ve been thinking a lot lately about slowing things back down.

About sitting at a table with a proper espresso. Sipping and talking with the patron sitting beside you.

About a warm scone baked fresh in Montour Falls.

About noticing the sunlight coming through the windows of a 150-year-old building, while hearing the quiet hum of conversation from the next room.

Over the past few weeks we’ve been rearranging, moving furniture, and making little changes throughout the coffeehouse. Nothing dramatic. Just creating more room to gather, work, read, meet a friend, or simply enjoy a moment to yourself.

So if it’s been a while since you’ve stopped in, consider this your invitation.

Order a traditional cortado (Erin’s personal favorite).
Try one of our fresh baked scones.
Find your favorite chair.
Nestle in.
Take a look around.

North New York Coffeehouse is trekking along under new ownership!

We are Erin and Dylan 👋 and have been building up our vision of North New York passed on from our wonderful friends, Mark and Rebecca. Because I (Erin) am now terribly slow and out of touch with social media, I’m sharing a hodgepodge of what we’ve been up to this past month. First photo is my “fitted by North” outfit and hen purse hanging with Mona herself 😎💅🏼 more vintage and secondhand clothes and accessories in our back room.

This month has been filled with joyous, scattered and hard-working moments with good friends. This hodgepodge post will be followed by a HELP WANTED poster for a social media person hehe 🤭
