🔥 WEARS VALLEY, Y’ALL SHOWED UP! 🔥

A huge THANK YOU to the volunteers and staff at Wears Valley Fall Fest for putting on an incredible event, and to every single person who stood in line to support The Local Que BBQ & Catering!

We had a SLAM-BANG three-day weekend! The gates opened, the lines formed, and we stayed busy until we sold out every single day. We served more customers in three days than we did during the entire TVA Fair! 🤯

The pork and brisket nachos were KILLER, our smoker stayed loaded all weekend, and we were making daily runs to BJ’s, Kroger, and Walmart just to keep up with y’all!

Shannon and I ran the booth on record-breaking Friday, proving we can handle the rush. Then the kids showed up Saturday and helped kick things into an even higher gear. 💪❤️

And those Texas Twinkies? Y’all are still buying them faster than we can make them!

We’ve got plenty of cleanup waiting on us, but first, we’re taking a little well-deserved rest. 😂

From our family to yours, THANK YOU for showing up, waiting in those lines, and supporting our small, family-owned, veteran-owned business. Weekends like this remind us why we do what we do!

Running a small business means making tough decisions every day. Sometimes you get them right, and sometimes you look back and wish you’d done things differently. I decided to sit out this weekend’s event because of the weather, and honestly, I’ve been kicking myself over it.

But that’s the small-business grind. You own your decisions, learn from them, dust yourself off, and keep moving forward. 💪🔥

Hey friends, I’m suppose to set up at an event tomorrow and Sunday. The organizers said the event is still a go. Do we still try to set up with the potential for some serious weather?

According to the National weather service:
Saturday daytime: 0.5–0.75 inch of rain possible.
Saturday night: another 1–2 inches possible.
Wind gusts: up to 35 mph Saturday, with gusts up to 30 mph Saturday night.
Rain probability: 100% Saturday and 80% Saturday night.

We are only in a tent. But I also don’t want the organizers to think I’m just not showing up.

Sorry, Jellico. Unfortunately, our smoker controller went out last night, and despite trying to get it back up and running, we’re dead in the water today. I’ve already bought a backup controller and contacted the company about getting this one fixed.

That’s the thing about owning a small business that people don’t always see.

You can plan. You can prepare. You can work your tail off. And sometimes, something completely out of your control decides to go sideways anyway.

There’s no maintenance department. No equipment manager. No backup crew waiting to fix everything.

It’s you.

So you figure it out. You make the phone calls. You buy the backup. You load the trailer. You tear down. You learn from it. And then you get back after it.

Today didn’t go the way we wanted it to, but one bad day isn’t going to define The Local Que.

We’re a small, family-owned business, and we’re still building this thing one cook, one event, and one setback at a time.

Things I learned at the TVA Fair.

Day 6: Here’s the part nobody sees.

The TVA Fair was incredible.

But it hasn’t been easy.

There have been long nights.

Exhaustion.

Equipment problems.

Weather.

Running out of things.

Making too much of something.

Not making enough of something.

Trying to train people while you’re still figuring things out yourself.

And then getting up the next morning and doing it again.

That’s small business.

You don’t get to wait until everything is perfect.

You figure it out.

You fix it.

You learn.

You keep moving.

The TVA Fair showed us that people actually want what we’re building.

Now we’ve got to build it better.

The tent was the experiment.

The next step is bigger.

And we’re just getting started.

We bring the Que to you.
