Beekeeping is one of my favorite parts of our homestead. Bees are truly so fascinating and there’s always something new to learn.
And speaking of learning, we have loved lots about the horizontal hives we started with, but one things we’ve learned is that they aren’t huge honey producers, and that prompted us to start doing some research around other options.
And that’s when my dad found HiveIQ
These boxes are made of high density EPS which gives them more that 6 times the insulation value of the traditional wooden bee boxes, which is a huge selling point for us as wintering bees in Kansas can be very hard because the the cold temps. Their app for tracking hive progress, the light weight of the boxes themselves, the 3 part front door and varroa/winter board are all features we LOVE about our HiveIQ boxes!
Of course we are also partial to a 4 generation family doing life together and so their story resonates strongly with us and we love following Sophia Croker documentary on YouTube as well!
