After a lot of thought, we’ve decided to transition away from espresso drinks and get back to the heart of what we do best: freshly brewed coffee, thoughtfully sourced beans, and small-batch roasting done with care.
One of the things we’re most proud of at Caines Head is the time and attention we put into selecting and roasting our coffee to bring out its very best flavor. We want you to actually taste that effort in the cup.
Over time, we’ve also realized that offering espresso drinks in our tiny concession trailer has created a real bottleneck in our workflow. Because such a big part of what we offer is food, trying to do both food and full espresso service well has become increasingly challenging. With limited space, limited power, limited time, and limited human energy, it’s simply not possible for us to be everything to everyone and still get orders out quickly and well.
The truth is, our trailer has a very small footprint. We can’t realistically offer multiple milks, syrups, sugars, decaf, half-caf, fully leaded, five shots, half sweet, extra hot, not too hot, just a dash of foam, shaken-not-stirred, Washington-style coffee magic… you get the picture… while also keeping the food line moving in a timely way.
Seward has several other great places to grab an espresso drink, and we’re grateful for that. As for us, we want to focus on serving everyone better by simplifying our menu and leaning into the things we can do really well.
So here’s what’s staying:
- Freshly brewed coffee
- Iced coffee
- Cold brew
- Cold foam (because it’s just too good not to keep)
- Red Bull drinks
- Lotus
- Specialty sodas
- Donuts & our food menu
- and of course, a happy face at the window ready to serve you
We’ll also be adding decaf brewed coffee soon.
Thank you for supporting our little trailer, our coffee, and the many moving parts behind the window. We’re always trying to find the balance between quality, efficiency, and keeping this business sustainable — and we truly believe this change will help us do that.
