Right y’all. It’s summer, it’s hot ☀️☀️and it’s time for a full programme of events this week. First up we have the monthly quiz, pushed back a week because of Trump and Infantino’s cash grab football World Cup. The food theme for the quiz is Mexican, although we can tame the heat if you would like. We will be delivering a two course meal and the general knowledge quiz, all for the inflation-proof price of only £17. To book, message or call 01824 421070. Then on Friday, we have Trev or James bringing the tunes. Not sure which one will turn up, but, surprisingly, they are each as good as each other, and they are firm favourites up here at the Clavel. Then on Sunday, to complete the triumvirate of entertainment, we have Bingo with prizes galore to be won. It’s not particularly mindful or demure - rather it is a bit raucous, like bingo on steroids.
So if you want an adrenaline filled end to your week, then why not book in for this spectacular?

⚡️🎸 LIVE MUSIC TONIGHT 🎸⚡️We can’t wait to welcome back Bar None to the Clavel this evening, for what I’m sure will be another cracking gig. You probably know by now, but they serve up a great mix of rock, pop, blues and indie covers spanning several decades. A bit of something for everyone to get you up dancing. And, although sunnier days lie ahead, it would seem, it will be warm enough and dry enough for them to play outside. Don’t forget, we offer free overnight camping to everyone, from large vans to pitching a tent. We look forward to seeing you here 🫡☀️🏕️🚐

Our specials menu this week has a very summery feel. As well as the always-popular Scallop Gratin, we also have fillet of John Dory, Swordfish Steak, and - my personal favourite - a Crab Risotto. The combination of a barnstorming gig by last night and an epic 60th birthday celebration for Tam has led to barely a single creature stirring up on the lovely Blackdown Hills this afternoon. But what a great time we had last night. We were treated to great live music set, with all the classics and covers of the likes of The Vaccines and Wet Leg. We cannot wait to welcome the band back. Thank you so much guys🎸🫡🍺🍻☀️🎉🍾

⚡️🎸Live music this Friday🎸⚡️
Timebomz will be back and they will soundtracking our Friday evening. Raucous rock and pop covers through several decades, they are sure to get you up on the dance floor. The last time the played up here, I seem to recall mostly middle-aged people, including me, attempting to roll back the years and thrash an sway away on the dance floor, seemingly believing we were young again. But, what I think it all resulted in was a lot of sore hips, backs and heads in the morning. A great evening of entertainment not to be missed 😀 We look forward to seeing you here😀And don’t forget, we offer free overnight camping, so you don’t have to worry about taxis or having a designated driver ☀️🎸🍺

☀️☀️BINGO NIGHT SUN 31st MAY☀️☀️
From 6-8-30 we have a rowdy night of bingo planned for you. Comprising12 games of bingo, with several cash and age-appropriate non-cash prizes to be won. People who have been before Jane Brake Danielle Phillips Carle Wood Toby Coombs will tell you it’s not your average bingo night, and let’s face it, none of the events we put on are ever average, but they will tell you that it is a thoroughly entertaining evening. Snack foods will be available on the night. Cost is £12 for all 12 games, with all ticket sale money being put into the prize fund. It depends on the number of players, but offer the top prize is in the region of £75. Not a bad nights work if you win that. To book, call 01823 421070 or message us. Although we have ongoing maintenance work, the pub is open as usual, serving our full menu. As well as the beer garden to the front of the pub, we also have a seating area to the side of the pub. This is situated away from the road and gives some relief from the traffic noise. Also, we have some benches up on the bandstand, in the shade an giving some welcome relief from the sun. Inside the pub is nice and cool, and it is also perfect for your dog to relax in. And we have plenty of dog water bowls.

Also today, unlike other bank holidays, we are having an EVENING FOODSERVICE. So, wherever you might be coming back from, feel free to pop in and get a bite to eat. Take care in the sun, everyone, and we look forward to seeing you here ☀️😀☀️😀🍺🍻
