β€οΈ If you're new here, I wanted to introduce myself... β€οΈ Againβ¦ because I finally got my certificate in the mail (although state gave me the thumbs up last month) and it made me teary-eyed.
Hi, I'm Jordynβthe owner (and the only employee π
) behind Sugar Britches Candy Co.
I'm a wife, a mama of four, and a registered nurse of 12 years. When I'm not making candy or spending time with my family, you'll usually find me at the hospital helping bring babies into the world. It's one of the greatest honors of my life, and a job I truly love.
But somewhere along the way, another passion found me.
Almost two years ago, I started making candied fruit simply because my husband has a pretty serious sweet tooth, and I wanted to make him something different. I never intended for it to become a business. I definitely never imagined it would grow into what it is today.
What started as a fun little hobby slowly turned into late nights in the kitchen... then pop-ups... then repeat customers... then people asking where they could find my treats... and now...
β¨ They're sitting on store shelves.
That sentence still doesn't feel real.
It hasn't happened by accident. It's taken countless hours of trial and error to perfect my recipes, nights with very little sleep, long days balancing nursing, motherhood, and candy-making, filing for my LLC, becoming Cottage Food certified, and most recently passing my commercial kitchen inspection so I could become commercially licensed and wholesale approved.
There have been moments where I wondered if it was worth it.
Moments where I was exhausted.
Moments where I thought maybe I was dreaming too big. I literally almost quit altogether several times this year alone, especially after the loss of my papaw.
But every time one of you shared a post, placed an order, recommended me to a friend, or came back for your favorite flavor... you reminded me to keep going.
I know there are a lot of places to buy sweet treats. There are a lot of talented people doing amazing things, and I truly believe there's room for everyone to succeed. (I donβt follow other treat makers purposely, but if I canβt do something- I know where to direct you to who can.)
So the fact that so many of you continue to choose Sugar Britches means more than I can ever explain.
When you support this business, you're not supporting a corporation.
You're supporting a local Kentucky mom who's doing her very best to build something meaningful for her family.
You're supporting school supplies, football cleats, family dinners, late-night recipe experiments, and a dream that once felt way too big for someone like me.
Every order, every share, every comment, every recommendation... it all matters.
If you've been here since my very first batch, thank you.
If you just found my page yesterday, welcome. I'm so glad you're here.
And if you've ever wondered whether supporting a small business makes a difference...
Please know that it has changed my life.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for believing in me, for cheering me on, and for helping Sugar Britches Candy Co. grow into something I never thought possible.
I can't wait to see where this sweet little journey takes us next. β€οΈπ
Love,
Jordyn
