This 4th of July, we took our kids to see the beach for the first time. They were so excited, and everything seemed perfect.
Then, in just a matter of seconds, our 2-year-old daughter disappeared.
My wife walked into the water, and our daughter tried to follow her. She couldn’t catch up, became confused, and couldn’t find her way back to us.
It had only been a couple of minutes before I realized I couldn’t see her anymore. I asked my wife where she was, and she thought she was with me. That’s when our hearts dropped.
Those were the longest and most terrifying moments of our lives. As parents, your mind immediately imagines the worst.
By the grace of God, and thanks to the incredible lifeguards who responded so quickly, our little girl was found standing alone on the beach, scared and looking for us.
We’re sharing this because we never want another family to experience what we did.
It only takes a few seconds. Crowded places and water can become dangerous in the blink of an eye. Please keep your children close, even when you think everything is under control.
Thank you, God, for protecting our daughter. And thank you to the lifeguards who brought her safely back to us.
