Our Annual Taunton River Tide Calendar Photography Contest is NOW OPEN!

We are accepting up to 5 electronic submissions from adults and teens, amateur and professional photographers alike.

We are looking for photographs of wildlife, scenery, agriculture, evidence of the area’s historic and archeological heritage, and people enjoying the watershed.

We are especially interested in seasonal images. Higher resolution images taken with your phone camera (instead of a social media app) and with the phone turned sideways (a landscape orientation) work the best with our printing format.

Photographs must be the sole property of the submitting party, and they must have been taken within the last five years WITHIN THE TAUNTON RIVER WATERSHED.

The submission deadline is September 2, 2026.

Submissions will be judged in September with notification of acceptances at the end of the month. Thirteen winning photographs will be featured in the calendar. Photographers will be awarded one free copy of the final calendar.

PLEASE READ UPDATED GUIDELINES BEFORE SUBMITTING ANY PHOTOS!

We hope everyone had a fun and safe 4th of July weekend! You can keep the celebrations going with Old Colony History Museum this week. Check it out! πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

As we continue our celebration of Independence Day and America’s 250th anniversary this week, it’s worth remembering that one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence called Taunton home.

Robert Treat Paine lived and worked here as a lawyer before becoming one of Massachusetts’ five signers of the Declaration of Independence. Earlier in his career, he served as prosecutor in the trial of Captain Thomas Preston and the British soldiers involved in the Boston Massacre, helping to uphold the rule of law during one of the most turbulent moments in colonial history.

Join us on Wednesday, July 8, for β€œSharing the Spirit of America,” A Live Reading of the Declaration of Independence as we gather to read the Declaration of Independence aloud and reflect on the enduring ideals it proclaimed. It's a fitting way to continue celebrating the remarkable role Taunton played in the founding of the United States.

Summer is in full swing! πŸŒžπŸ¦Ÿβœ… Stay cool, but take protective measures against ticks and mosquitos if you're wandering around outside. These insects are thriving this year, which means a heightened risk for related diseases.

And if ants are threatening to ruin your watermelon, give Joe a call for an inspection! πŸ‰πŸœπŸœπŸœ
