Northwest Public Power Association (NWPPA) is a not-for-profit trade association of nearly 150 public/people's utility districts, electric cooperatives, municipalities, and crown corporations in the Western U.S. NWPPA also serves the sales and networking needs of approximately 300 Associate Members across the U.S.

Today, we recognize the day slavery ended in the United States. On June 19, 1865, federal troops had arrived in Galveston, Texas, and General Gordon Granger issued General Order No. 3, announcing, “the people of Texas are informed that, in accordance with a proclamation from the Executive of the United States, all slaves are free.”
