From rapping to DJing, Macknificent’s always been about finding the right sound 🎶

DJ Macknificent isn’t just pressing play, she’s curating a vibe. At the last Taste the Culture, she had folks dancing in the rain and rediscovering deep cuts they forgot they loved. So of course, we had to bring her back for the Juneteenth Edition.

Raised in Worcester, she’s a former rapper, a current digital media student at Northeastern, and a walking music archive. From Hip Hop and R&B to house, and dancehall, she’s got it all queued up.

🎧 With less than 5% of DJs being women, and even fewer being Black, representation matters.

🍽️ Come through during your lunch break from 12–5PM, and enjoy one on one time with the founder of Asili, try on jewelry, explore the meaning behind the beads, and play games with Rolling Games and Feast & Festival. 🎲

📿 Jewelry is connection, to yourself, to people, to places.

🇰🇪 Paul Muturi, founder of Asili Jewelry, created the brand after a visit to his home country of Kenya in 2019. He brought back handcrafted jewelry for friends, and they couldn’t get enough (y’all want to be Kenyan so bad). But Paul saw something deeper. People weren’t just drawn to the jewelry, they were craving connection. To Africa. To identity.
To themselves.

🌍 “Asili” means origin in Swahili. Through Asili Jewelry, Paul helps others find that origin, and wear it proudly. Every piece supports local artisans through fair wages, ethical sourcing, and tradition.
