⚡️ Dean Wareham and his band (Britta Phillips, Roger Brogan and Derek See) come to the Awe Bar to play a set ofGalaxie 500 songs.
Dean Wareham was the singer and guitarist in Galaxie 500 (1987-1991). Based in Boston, Galaxie 500 released three albums that have only grown in stature, Today, On Fire and This Is Our Music, all produced by Kramer and released on the Rough Trade label.
Wareham’s next band Luna recorded for Elektra and Beggar’s Banquet (including Penthouse, on Rolling Stone’s list of best albums of the 90s), followed by three albums as Dean & Britta (with his wife Britta Phillips). His most recent release was a solo album I Have Nothing to Say to the Mayor of L.A. (4 stars, Mojo Magazine, #6 Album of the Year, Uncut Magazine)

⚡️ After many years of resistance, John Tottenham finally sold out to the lucrative, fast-paced world of poetry. He is the author of The Inertia Variations, an epic cycle on the subject of work-avoidance, indolence and failure. Antiepithalamia & Other Poems of Regret and Resentment, a sequence of mean-spirited love poems with particular respect paid to the institution of marriage, was published by Penny-Ante Press in October 2012.
A sonic and cinematic interpretation of The Inertia Variations by The The (Matt Johnson) was released in late 2017.

⚡️ DJ Day (Damien Beebe) is a DJ, producer and musician from Palm Springs, California. His contributions to the various avant-garde music scenes in Southern California run deep and span over two decades. From the historic Root Down parties of Los Angeles to the infamous Do-Over, Day has garnered respect from peers and fans alike for his eclectic, well-executed DJ sets and diverse taste in music. His debut album, The Day Before, rose to the top of numerous notable charts including those of Gilles Peterson (BBC), Jeremy Sole (KCRW) and Philly's Cosmo Baker. His talent in transitioning between DJ/turntablist, musician and beat maker is best exemplified by his ambitious studio release, Land Of 1000 Chances. He has toured over 20 countries worldwide as a solo artist and performed with artists such as Aloe Blacc, Eminem, Amy Winehouse, People Under the Stairs, Grandmaster Flash, Moodymann, and more. Day was nominated for Song of the Year awards both by the BBC and The Village Voice and his music has been licensed for commercials by DC Shoes, Red Bull Music Academy, Rane/Serato, and numerous full length feature films. He has also been a participant in DJ Jazzy Jeff’s Playlist Retreat since it’s conception.

⚡️ Deaf Club is a savage sound bath dripping with sardonicism: a blastbeat-centric hardcore punk assault channeling crust, thrash, and grind (un)sensibilities. Succinct pauses, surreal frequencies and effects, breakneck pace and sharply hurled vocals characterize the band’s aesthetic, which seems as though it is rooted in a sort of nasty-sound-meets-highbrow-message ethos. Fueled by the onslaught of society’s insanity and driven mad by tinnitus, Justin Pearson (The Locust, Dead Cross, Planet B), Brian Amalfitano (ACxDC), Scott Osment (Weak Flesh), Jason Klein (Run With The Hunted), and Tommy Meehan (The Manx, Chum Out!) approach music as an opportunity to confront our collective sicknesses.

⚡️MoonFuzz is an all-woman trio based in Los Angeles, CA formed in 2016. Greatly influenced by early Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin, MoonFuzz produces a heavy yet melodic blend of progressive rock and roll captivating their audience with their energetic live performances. Their members consist of Brandi Estrada (drums), Heaven Martinez (bass & vocals), and Miranda Viramontes (Guitar). The three are currently on tour in honor of their newest single, “Golden Girl” released October 12th on all streaming platforms.
⚡️Yvonne Champagne is an all female, de-tuned, double bass and drums art rock band from the high desert. With Cat Celebrezze and Suze Kearns on bass and Denise Tanguay on drums, Yvonne Champagne features gang vocals and the heavy sound of the Mojave.

⚡️ Zeke is an American hardcore punk band from Seattle, Washington, formed in 1992. They are known for their extremely fast, energetic guitar sound. Zeke mixes this with strong influences from hard rock, and occasionally blues rock, and are often compared to Motörhead.

⚡️Ted Quinn returns to the stage to present you at the Awe Bar’s Second from the Last Sunday of the Month Open MIc on December 18th. Sign up at 6pm.

Originally hosting the seminal local mic at the Beatnik Cafe in the early 2000s, Quinn was recommended to former Pappy and Harriets co-owner Robyn Celia by local legend Johnette Napolitano (Concrete Blonde) and recruited to host the popular open mic at Pappys for 9 years, only stopping in 2016 to address health issues and to make a record of his own (“1.11”).

During that time, Quinn presented 1000s of artists ranging from first-time performers and musical veterans to international artists including Elle King, Feist, First Aid Kit, Ke$ha, Lydia NIght (the Regrettes) and many more, including Jesse Coulter and Shooter Jennings on his wedding night.

⚡️ Sun Atoms - Peter Holmström of The Dandy Warhols produced and plays bass in this buzzing new Portland, Oregon supergroup fronted by Jsun Atoms along with other Northwest luminaries June Kang, Mars DePonte, Los Angeles drummer Eric Rubalcava and Boise transplant Derek Spencer Longoria Gomez. Brooklyn Vegan says their debut album Let There Be Light, “Is a tripped out opus packed with droning electronics, shimmering guitars, dayglo melodies and a deep whispered delivery, mixed by Smiths/Blur producer Stephen Street and featuring Alex Maas of The Black Angels.”

⚡️Heaven - A romantic clash between your Dad's long lost favorite psych record and the soundtrack to a John Hughes film, Heaven ride a massive sonic wave in delivering their dear and dreamy tracks. Matt Sumrow and Mikey Jones created Heaven in the wake of touring and recording with artists such as DEAN and BRITTA, SWERVEDRIVER, AMBULANCE LTD, the COMAS, the LEMONHEADS, and others. After a deep collective pandemic slumber, the NYC duo are prepping a new release and the most somnambulistic to date, their 3rd full length set for summer 2023. Luke Sweeney - Straddling that line between the sacred and profane has always been a skill of Sweeney’s, but here his DIY pop tightrope act is taken to another level. Deities and drifters alike play a part in a sonic procession that pulls from all corners of the world; everything from 808 beats, synth bass lines, Nile Rogers-esque strums, and groovy Prince-like party refrains sit alongside stoney 60’s-style interludes, jazzy futuristic spells, prog-rock guitar plucks and riffs, a children’s chorus and even Hindu chanting circles.
