The doors officially open tomorrow at 5PM at McGreal’s at the Golden Strand and we cannot wait to welcome you all in.
What started as an idea, a vision, and a huge amount of hard work is finally becoming reality. The taps are flowing, the music is ready, and the Golden Strand is about to come alive again. ⚡🍺

Calling all you hirsute rockers, afro'ed disco divas, back-combed new romantics, mohawked punks and everything in-between! Only 3 days left until the incredible Battle of the Bands 2025: Big Hair! extravaganza at the fabulous Wavecrest Achill this Saturday, November 1st!

We have 11 bands taking part, in no particular order:
Satan's Armpit; My Lovely Wh**es; Hair Force One; The Green Bastards (from parts unknown); The Swamp Donkeys; The Shift; The Newtown Rats; Cheesy Dirtbags; Industry Plant; The Hairy Moments; The Big Hares.

All bands will be assembling in the Wavecrest Achill at 7:30pm. The first band to play will be announced at 7:45pm and they will commence their set at 8pm. Each band will perform 3 songs.

It will be an epic night as it always is. There will be a €5 (cash only) suggested donation for admission- this will go to cover the costs of hosting the event, and towards the prize fund for the top 3 bands (as voted for by our 3 esteemed judges, and the bands themselves). Any takings left over will be donated to Achill based charities (last year we shared €930 between RNLI, Achill CAT Team and Gearoid's Smile).

If you are coming along, please get into the swing of the event and throw on your glammest of glam rags. And don't forget to spice up your hair!
