Mad Mack's BBQ is more than a barbecue business—it's a family legacy built on generations of Texas tradition, hard work, and a passion for great food.
Founder and Pitmaster Myron Mack was born in Hearne, Texas, and moved to Houston with his family in 1973 when his father, Oliver Deon "O.D." Mack, accepted a position with Cameron Iron Works. From an early age, Myron developed a love for barbecue while watching his father work the pit during family cookouts.
Growing up, Myron and his brother Troy spent many summers in the Hearne and Mumford, Texas area, where they learned the values of family, community, and self-sufficiency. His grandfather, Oliver Wendell "O.W." Mack, introduced him to gardening and the rewards of working the land. On his mother's side, his grandfather Veron "Jack" Moore, a sharecropper and tenant farmer in Mumford, taught lessons in farming, gardening, and outdoor cooking that would stay with Myron for a lifetime.
As a teenager and young adult, Myron watched family and friends rave about his father's barbecue. Those experiences sparked a deeper interest in the craft. Although he spent several years in the Dallas-Fort Worth area pursuing career opportunities, his passion for cooking never disappeared.
After returning to Houston in 2009, Myron began cooking regularly for his parents and family gatherings. Soon after meeting his future wife, Tiffany A. Trotter (now Tiffany A. Mack), he prepared ribs for a birthday celebration while his mother, Frances Mack, contributed her famous greens. The meal was an overwhelming success, and requests for Myron's barbecue quickly followed for birthdays, family reunions, graduations, and special events.
In 2012, Myron experienced the loss of his beloved mother. Fortunately, he was able to preserve her treasured greens recipe, ensuring that a part of her legacy would continue through every meal served. Over the years, demand for his food continued to grow, and by 2023, friends, family, and customers were encouraging him to turn his passion into a business.
In 2024, Myron and Tiffany officially launched M2T2 LLC, doing business as Mad Mack's BBQ. What began with holiday smoked and fried turkeys has expanded into a growing catering operation serving events throughout the Houston area.
Today, Mad Mack's BBQ remains a true family affair. Family favorites include Livi's Banana Pudding, T-Mack & Cheese, and T-Roy's Smoked Turkey Breast, each contributing to the unique flavors and traditions that define the Mad Mack's BBQ experience.
As we continue to grow, our mission remains simple: honor our family's legacy, serve authentic Texas barbecue, and provide every customer with food made from the heart.
