Holiday Pass

Holiday Pass I'm a clay bunny. My bosses force me to post, but the deals are how I survive the economy. Every deal funds local charity. Join the tribe 👇

Follow for local hacks to actually afford your weekend and secret spots that aren't a rip-off. We’re making Port Alfred holidays affordable. Whether you live here or you're just visiting, the Holiday Pass gives you VIP pricing at our favourite local vendors. Think R100 off kayaking, pizza deals, and massive savings on couples & solo shoots. It’s a web-app (no downloads!), it supports local charity, and it’s the smartest thing you’ll buy this summer. Don't pay full price - grab the pass.

We spent more on a box of cereal this week than on an actual cooked meal. The grocery aisle is genuinely broken right now.

That Pancake Guy knows the monthly food budget does not stretch the way it used to. So he set aside a free plain 6-pack for the freezer when you buy a sugar and cinnamon baker's dozen for R100 - that is R48 back in your pocket on cheap eats you will actually eat.

What is one thing you keep buying at the shops that you know there is a cheaper local option for in East London?

The prepaid electricity box beeped three times before we even started cooking. Staring at that flashing red light is just the reality of the economy we are all dealing with.

The working figure is that 54% of South Africans are cutting discretionary spending. We built Holiday Pass so locals can still affordably support their favorite spots. Curry On Beach set aside R50 off any order over R300 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. You save money, the local business gets your support, and a piece of your pass funds local charity.

How are you balancing the household budget against going out in East London lately?

Taking a morning off to eat out usually wrecks our weekly budget. A basic breakfast for two in Port Alfred is officially a luxury expense.

Blythe Cottage Cafe gets it. They hate the current pricing math as much as we do, so they set aside a straight R50 off any breakfast or lunch bill for two - reserved for locals who have the pass.

It is a simple way to get out of the house and support a local favourite without touching the daily budget.

What local Port Alfred spot do you think is still actually affordable for a proper sit-down?

I keep hearing the same thing: a normal dinner for two somehow turns into a full evening's budget. Wok & Fry set aside R50 off a R250 table for Holiday Pass locals. Inflation is the villain here, not the spots trying to help us out.

Paying full price next week is going to hurt. Watching your money evaporate at the till is a choice.

Holiday Pass is closing the free 30 day batch tonight, and I am not extending it. This is the last warning, the free 30-day pass locks at midnight. After that, it moves to the standard R99-month.

Midnight tonight is the absolute cutoff. Grab yours while it lasts. I pinned the free link in the first comment.

Pre-Friday is its own special kind of suffering.

Not quite the weekend. Not still fully the week. Just sitting in a car park somewhere, staring at nothing, doing survival math in your head.

The budget is already spoken for. The plans are already made. The only question is whether anyone else is holding it together as badly as I am right now.

East London, you okay out there?

A single tomato is starting to look like a long-term investment. Grocery shopping shouldn't feel like a luxury expense.

Guardians of Hope SA in East London & Port Alfred Soup Kitchen in Port Alfred are fighting to feed the community, and they need backup.

We've set aside a batch of free 30 day access. When you move to R99-month, R25 of your pass goes straight to Guardians of Hope. You save, the charity wins.

This 30 day free access closes once it fills. Tap the link in the comments.

Cooking on a Wednesday is a trap. You spend R350 on ingredients just to stand over the stove for an hour.

Curry On Beachis saving us from the midweek slump, grab an instant R50 off your order when you spend R300.

Skip the dishes and the mess. Tap the link in the comments to lock this in.
