Art Dubai week hits different when your walls already came with a backstory.

Inside LahKee, one of our artworks has been sitting there like it knows something you don’t.

Before we opened, we knew the space couldn’t feel clean-cut or too behaved. It needed attitude. A little 90s Japanese poster energy. A little backstreet food stall. A little late-night cartoon after midnight. A little “what is this place?” in the best way.

That’s where came in.

He created one of the artworks inside LahKee, bringing that retro Japanese, 80s/90s, food-world weirdness we’ve always loved. Loud, nostalgic, playful, and slightly unhinged around the edges.

Art doesn’t always need a gallery voice.

Sometimes it sits on the wall, watches the room, and becomes part of the flavour.

Episode 4 of the Who Gets LahKee series:
Kuto Gets LahKee.

Two homegrown stories brought together under one blade.

For two days, LahKee’s small kitchen turned into a sharp little theatre of fire, flavour and precision. Mark and Mary moved with instinct and discipline, while Kuto brought the blade culture, Japanese craft and quiet detail behind every clean cut.

The omakase was only the first slice.

Next stop: a collab ramen curated by Kuto and LahKee, dropping May 8.

On May 5, we’re bringing the blade to the table with UAE’s first homegrown knife shop, Kuto.

A 5-course omakase led by Mary, with Mark on the floor and the whole thing happening street-style, outside, under the night.
