Day DJ is a weekly series at Villa Vida Café. Each Friday, local DJs take over the space and share their sound in a daytime setting. The focus is on new talent, experimentation, and community.

This is a place to build sets, try ideas, and connect through music.
The format is open and relaxed. You can come to listen, work, meet people, or stay for the full set. The aim is to create a consistent platform where DJs grow their practice and support each other.

DJ Ruby Nyaoro
DJ Ruby Nyaoro brings a groove-driven selection rooted in rhythm and flow. Expect a mix of house music, deep house, Afro house, Afro tech, and tech house — blending funky elements with steady, danceable energy. The focus is less on strict genre lines and more on creating a cohesive atmosphere that moves the room.

DJs have played a central role in q***r culture. In spaces where q***r people were excluded, DJs created environments where identity and expression could exist. Through sound, they shaped rooms, built connections, and guided shared experiences.

Many of the sounds and practices that define nightlife today grew out of q***r spaces. House, disco, and club culture were shaped by q***r communities, especially Black and Latinx scenes.

Day DJ continues this history by creating space for new voices and keeping this culture active.

– attracted beyond rigid gender binaries
– curious about connection in a safer, community-rooted space
– respectful of q***r spaces and the people in them

You do not need to use any specific label to attend. What matters most is showing up with openness, kindness, and respect for the q***r community this space centers.

Most participants come with romantic or dating curiosity, but friendship, community, and good conversation are also very welcome outcomes.

How Q***r Speed Dating Works 💞
Fast & Fun:
You’ll move through a series of short, engaging mini-dates throughout the evening. Each round is timed so everyone gets equal space to connect. No hovering. No guesswork. Just real conversations, one after another.

Simple Match System:
At the end of the event, you’ll privately mark who you’d like to see again. If there’s mutual interest, we’ll connect you afterward. No public rejections, no awkward announcements — just shared chemistry.

7 YEARS OF VILLA VIDA 🎉

In 2019, Villa Vida opened its doors with a simple vision: to create the kind of q***r space we wished existed when we were younger. A space rooted in belonging, creativity, solidarity, and joy. A space that welcomed the full LGBTQIA+ community, including trans and nonbinary people, at its center.

Seven years later, Villa Vida has become so much more than a café. It has been a home for organizing, art, music, friendship, activism, mutual aid, q***r youth, disabled community members, POC communities, and countless moments of connection.

On June 19, we gather at Celeste to celebrate everything we have built together.

Throughout the night, we’ll share words of witness from local q***r community members reflecting on Villa Vida’s impact over the past seven years.

This celebration is also a fundraiser supporting Villa Vida as we navigate a significant rent increase and supporting the Q***r Vienna Mutual Aid Fund.

Please support generously if you are able. Come dance, celebrate, reconnect, and help carry this community into its next chapter.

Gayme Night is our cozy board games hangout for the q***r community and friends.

Come with your besties or show up solo — we’ll help people find a table and get a game going. The goal is simple: relaxed social time, a bit of playful competition, and a space that feels easy to enter.

How it works
* Drop in any time between 18:00 and 21:00
* Choose a game from the selection (or bring your own)
* Join an open table or ask us to match you with a group
* Play, snack, sip, repeat

Who it’s for

Q***r folks and friends who can respect the space. You don’t need board game skills—just basic kindness and the ability to lose gracefully

We aim to make this event as accessible as possible. If you have access needs or questions (seating, sensory needs, etc.), message us in advance and we’ll do our best to accommodate. The venue is wheelchair accessible and has a wheelchair-accessible toilet.

Step into your power, your body, and your expression at this Dragalicious movement workshop with led by DaDa JV.

The MOVEMENT workshop focuses on dance and music as tools for drag self expression. DaDa JV leads you through movement, posing, and rhythm to build confidence and stage presence. You explore how your body responds to music and how attitude shapes performance. You practice clear poses, transitions, and expressive movement across different energy levels. This workshop supports performers who want to move with intention, own their space, and express personality through dance.

This workshop is an invitation to explore drag performance through movement, posing, and embodied expression. Whether you’re new to drag, curious about performance, or already playing with stage presence, this session focuses on confidence, character, and connecting to your own style.

Together, we’ll work with basic elements, strong poses, and expressive movement to help you feel more grounded, playful, and visible in your body. Expect a supportive, q***r-affirming space where experimentation is encouraged and everyone moves at their own pace.

No previous drag or dance experience required. Come as you are.

Dragalicious Workshops are donation-based. Please sign up in advance so we can plan the space accordingly.

DJ teufling
DJ teufling brings a high-energy selection moving through bounce, trance, techno, acid, and Latin-inspired sounds. Expect fast-paced rhythms ranging from 135–165 BPM, mixed with playful 2000s influences and unexpected connections between genres.

After already playing several sets around Vienna, they continue to explore the space between club music, nostalgia, and experimentation. Their approach focuses on momentum, groove, and creating a sound that feels both familiar and surprising.
