One of our favourite Austrian traditions happens tonight.

As darkness falls, fires begin to appear on the mountain tops across the Pinzgau. The custom dates back hundreds of years and marks the summer solstice, the longest day of the year.

Most years we're nervously watching the weather forecast and hoping the rain stays away.

This year looks much more promising.

In fact, we've already spotted the first fire from the terrace.

If you're out and about this evening, keep an eye on the mountains.

It's one of the most magical nights of the Austrian summer.
